How can I help to make my massage more enjoyable?
Don’t be afraid to ask your massage therapist to change something. Pressure, areas focused on, position on the table, or if you are too hot or cold. You will not hurt the therapist's feelings by asking for something that will make you more comfortable. Your therapist wants this to be the best experience for you.

What should I expect during my first visit?
You will fill out a health history form that will include questions on areas of your body that may be bothering you. The therapist will also ask you general questions to establish what areas would be most beneficial to work on, and if there are any conditions that need to be addressed. It is important to list all health concerns and medications, so the therapist can adapt the session to your specific needs. It is also important to list any allergies, so the therapist is aware if he needs to use a different oil or lotion during the session.

Massage therapy is beneficial in promoting increased circulation to tissues and organs, which improves immune system response, relaxes tense and overused muscles, and increases range of motion. It also helps prevent injuries, improves recovery time for athletes, and relieves migraine and headache pain.

Do I have to be completely undressed?
You should disrobe to the level you are comfortable. For a full body massage, it is more beneficial to be completely undressed. You will be draped professionally with a sheet during the entire session and only the area being worked on will be uncovered. However, if you are more comfortable to leave some clothing on, the therapist will work around a pair of underwear. If removing all your clothes makes you too nervous and unable to relax, then you are not getting the optimal benefit from the session. Your massage therapist will give you privacy to undress and get comfortable on the table before entering the room.

What should I do during the massage therapy session?
Make yourself comfortable. If your therapist wants you to adjust your position, he/she will either gently move you or will ask you to move when needed. Otherwise, change your position anytime to make yourself more comfortable.
Many people close their eyes and relax completely during a session; others prefer to talk. It's up to you. It is your massage, and whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax. Do not hesitate to ask questions or request a change in technique, pressure, or room temperature so that you will feel comfortable.

What oils or lotions will be used?
We use jojoba oil in most sessions. Jojoba oil is classified as a wax ester. This means it will not stain your clothing, and will absorb into your skin fully. It is the substance that most closely matches your skin's own natural oils. If requested, aromatherapy treatments can be added on to your service. We have a variety of high quality essential oils available. Please let your therapist know prior to your session if you have any skin allergies so he/she may accommodate your needs accordingly.

Will the massage hurt?
It is not beneficial for massage to be painful. Some people buy into the "no pain, no gain" philosophy with massage, but evidence suggests that just leaves you sore with little to no benefit. People react to pain by tensing their muscles. That is the opposite of what we want to do with massage. If you experience any discomfort during the session please tell your therapist. We wont give up on the area but we can always find a way to release the tension without causing pain.

How will I feel after the massage?
Most people feel very relaxed with relief from long-term aches and pains. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity, which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your session.

How often should I get a massage?
If you want occasional relaxation, then a session every 3-6 weeks may be fine for you.
However, if you are looking to address a specific condition, then it is recommended to go more frequently at first and then slowly taper down to a maintenance schedule.
